Sotto

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

Sotto ("the app") is a utility for controlling Denon® and Marantz® AV receivers over your local network. It is designed to collect no personal data.

Data we collect

None. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. It contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Data stored on your device

The app stores your receiver configuration (name, local IP address or hostname, saved scenes, sound favorites, and app preferences) locally on your device, in the app's Application Support directory. This data never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Network access

The app communicates only with the AV receiver(s) you configure, on your local network, using the manufacturers' control protocols (HTTP and Telnet) and Bonjour discovery. It makes no connections to our servers or to any third party.

Diagnostics & feedback

You can optionally generate a diagnostics report (for example, to help us support a specific receiver model) or attach one to a feedback email. It is redacted by default — the MAC address, device serial number, and any room/player names are scrubbed before the report can leave your device. Nothing is generated or sent automatically: you choose whether to create the report and, using your email app or the system share sheet, if and where to send it. The app itself never uploads it anywhere.

Purchases

The optional tip jar uses Apple's StoreKit. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple; the app receives no personal or payment information, stores nothing about your purchase, and no feature depends on tipping.

Children's privacy

The app collects no data and is suitable for all ages.
