Contact
Email [email protected]. One person reads it, so please include:
- Your receiver's model, exactly as it is printed on the front (for example AVR-X2800H).
- Your iOS version and iPhone model.
- What you tapped, what you expected, and what happened instead.
Send a diagnostics snapshot
In the app: Settings › Send Feedback. You can attach a diagnostics snapshot, and it is redacted on your device before it goes anywhere: the MAC address, the serial number, and any room or player names are scrubbed out. What is left is the model, the firmware version, the zones the receiver reports, and how it answered Sotto's probes.
Nothing is generated or sent automatically. You choose whether to create it, you can read it first, and your mail app is what sends it. A snapshot is also how a receiver gets a verified profile.
Setup checklist
Most connection problems are one of these five:
- Same network. The iPhone and the receiver have to be on the same Wi-Fi. A guest network, or a phone on cellular, cannot reach the receiver.
- Network Control on. In the receiver's own setup menu, under Network, turn on network control (Denon and Marantz call it "Network Control" or "IP Control", often with a "Always On" option). With it off, the receiver ignores the app whenever it is in standby.
- Local Network access. iOS asks once. If it was declined, allow it again in iOS Settings › Sotto › Local Network, or discovery finds nothing.
- Enter the IP by hand. Some mesh routers and guest networks block Bonjour discovery. The receiver shows its IP address under Network in its own menu, and Sotto takes it directly, with a Test Connection probe before you finish.
- One connection at a time. These receivers accept a single control connection. If the official Denon or Marantz app, a home-automation controller, or another phone is holding it, Sotto is refused until that one lets go.
Common questions
Answered in full on the receivers page:
- Does Sotto need HEOS or a Denon account?
- Does it work over cellular, or away from home?
- How old can the receiver be?
- Will it find my receiver automatically?
- Does it use the input names I set on the receiver?
- Does it control Zone 2 and Zone 3?
- What does it cost?
Whether your own model is verified or experimental is on the supported receivers page.
