Run your receiver with Siri & Shortcuts.

Updated 11 October 2026 · Sotto 1.0.11

Sotto adds receiver actions to Apple Shortcuts. Save a scene, select it in the Activate Scene action, and run your named shortcut with Siri on your iPhone. Scene activation opens Sotto to run the sequence.

Before you start

Install Sotto, connect a real receiver and confirm the controls work in the app. Keep your iPhone on the receiver’s local network. If connection is unreliable, start with the connection checklist.

Make a “Receiver Movie Night” shortcut

  1. In Sotto’s Scenes screen, save a scene for the input, sound mode and comfortable volume you want. Run it once in the app to check the result.
  2. Open Apple’s Shortcuts app and create a new shortcut. Search the actions for Sotto and add Activate Scene.
  3. Choose your saved scene in the action. Give the shortcut a distinct name, such as Receiver Movie Night.
  4. Run it from Shortcuts first. Then activate Siri on your iPhone and say “Receiver Movie Night.”

Apple explains running a named shortcut with Siri. Because a scene opens Sotto, a locked iPhone may need to be unlocked. Do not assume a scene runs silently in the background.

Set a precise volume

Add Sotto’s Set Receiver Volume action. Choose the receiver scale or decibels, then enter a comfortable level in whole or half steps. Run it while you can hear the receiver and check the result before relying on it in a routine. Sotto applies your configured maximum-volume and Night Mode limits; the requested level can be capped.

Simple Siri commands

Sotto also provides commands such as “Mute Sotto,” “Unmute Sotto” and “Turn off Sotto.” HEOS transport commands require a receiver and playback source that support them. If a phrase is not recognized, use a named shortcut with the corresponding Sotto action.

Important limits

Get Sotto

For iPhone with iOS 18 or later. Every feature is free; tips are optional. The iPhone and receiver need to be on the same local network.
